Florida, also known as the Sunshine State, is a popular year-round
destination which is suitable for the entire family. If you are
planning a family trip to this part of the US, you will need to do a
lot of planning as there is much more to the state than just Disney
World.
There are stunning beaches, national parks, educational attractions
and of course the much-loved theme parks. The most famous theme parks
have to be Disney World, Universal Studios and SeaWorld.
By taking a family trip to Florida, there will be no way that your
children will let you bypass the theme parks, after all, Florida is all
about the children – as well as those who act like children!
It is a very large state and because of the size of it, many of the
attractions are spread out. You may not have time to visit everywhere
you want to, so it is very important to prioritise destinations so that
the whole family gets to visit at least one place which they have
chosen.

Some of the most popular attractions include: Walt Disney World,
Busch Gardens, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, Florida Keyes and Daytona
International Speedway.
Disney World can be found in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, near Orlando
and is without doubt the most famous theme park in the world. Children
across the world dream of visiting Mickey and his friends and of having
fun on the rides. Disney World is separated into four different parks,
two water parks, entertainment and an abundance of resort hotels.
Taking your family to Disney World will be a trip that your children
remember for their entire life. The girls will be made to feel like
their favourite Disney Princess, while the boys can pretend to be
pirates, soldiers and cowboys; in fact anything they want to be.
For all of those future Einstein’s and science buffs, you should not
miss out on a trip to the Epcot Centre. This is effectively an
educational park which is based on how Walt Disney saw the world in the
future. While it may seem a tad far-fetched to adults, to children, it
is a science-fiction haven.
If you and your children love animals, a trip to Disney’s Animal
Kingdom has to be included. Here you will find a jeep safari, the
chance to travel through time and see dinosaurs, roller coasters and a
specially designated area for those children too young to appreciate
much of the park itself.
Another must see is Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This park is based
solely on 20th century film and TV. A number of rides will seem very
familiar and the daily stunt shows should not be missed.
If you are all ‘Disneyed’ out, which is doubtful for the little
ones, you may want to take a break for the bustle of the theme parks
and enjoy some time out in one of the numerous national parks scattered
around Florida. Some of the best include: Apalachicola National Forest,
Everglades National Park and Everglades National Park. These are a
great place to escape the crows, enjoy a picnic and take in the
beautiful countryside around you.
Most people arrive in Florida by flying into Orlando International
Airport, especially if you are visiting Disney World. However, you can
also fly into Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Daytona
Beach International Airport, or Miami International Airport.
It is important to carefully time your holiday as Florida is
renowned for experiencing devastating hurricanes and a trip during
hurricane season may be ruined if you are caught in the middle of a
storm. Lightning is also a major concern as are tornados. However, the
percentage that are affected by any of these compared to the number of
people who visit every year is tiny, so try not to worry and make sure
you enjoy your holiday!
